History

The Institute Was Founded In 1957. In 1997 It Received The Status Of Medical Academy, And In 2004 That Of A University.

Rankings And Reputation

The Ukraine Ministry Of Health Has Ranked Ternopil State Medical University First Among The Medical Universities In Ukraine. It Has Been Awarded The IV (Highest) Accreditation Level By The Ministry Of Education And Science Of Ukraine

Academic Provision

The Pedagogical Staff Numbers 408 Teachers, Including 71 Doctors Of Science, 59 Professors, 124 Associate Professors, And 261 Candidates Of Science. The Staff Includes One Corresponding Member Of AMS Of Ukraine, 8 Honored Workers Of Science And Technology Of Ukraine, 3 Honored Inventors Of Ukraine, And 4 Honored Physicians Of Ukraine.

Teaching

The Student Population Of The Faculty Is Over 3000, Including More Than 1000 Foreign Students.[1] Classes Usually Consists Of 8-12 Persons. There Are 10 Lecture-Halls Equipped With Modern Demonstration Apparatus. Practical Classes And Seminars Are Held In The Laboratories And Thematic Classrooms, While Clinical Training Takes Place In The Wards And The Laboratories Of Functional And Instrumental Diagnostics. Since 2006 The "Z-System" Of Training Has Been Introduced, By Which Students In Their First Years Learn Clinical Aspects Together With Theoretical Subjects. Different Departments Are Located At Different Locations Around Ternopil City.

Qualification

Ternopil State Medical University Is Listed In The FAIMER (International Medical Education) Directory Under ECFMG And The WHO (World Health Organization) Directory Of Medical Universities/Schools. TSMU’s Degree Is Recognized By WHO, US Education Department, General Medical Council Of England, And In EU Countries. Since 2005 Students Are Assessed According To The European Credit Test System (ECTS) Credit-Module System, Which Will Allow The Diplomas Granted By The University To Be Converted In All Countries Of The European Union.

Faculties

The University Contains The Following Faculties: Medicine (6 Years – MD Program), Dentistry (5 Years), Pharmacy (5 Years), And Nursing (2–4 Years). Postgraduate Programs Are Also Offered In Different Fields. The Theoretical Departments Of The Faculty Occupy Four Educational Scientific Institutes, Which Are Independent Structural-Functional Subdivisions Of The University: Institute Of Morphology, Institute Of Biomedical Problems, Institute Of Modeling And Pathologic Processes Analyzing, And M. Skakun Institute Of Pharmacology, Hygiene And Medical Biochemistry. There Are 12 Clinical Departments, Based At City And Regional Medical Establishments In Ternopil.

Postgraduate Education

Postgraduates Can Study For A Master's Degree Or A PhD. Other Continuing Education Includes A Training Internship Program, And Provision For Clinical Specialization.

Vacation Activities

International Summer Schools Have Involved Students From The University Of South Carolina, Moscow State University, Kazakh Medical Academy, Shlyonsk Medical Academy (Poland), National Pharmaceutical University (Kharkiv). The University Also Offers Students A Chance To Travel Abroad For Student Exchange Programs During Summer.

Foreign Students

More Than 1500 International Students From 53 Different Countries Are Studying In Ternopil State Medical University.The University Collaborates With A Number Of Foreign Institutions.Ternopil State Medical University Is The First University In Ukraine To Adopt The American Nursing Program. In The American Nursing School And International Nursing School, Teaching Follows The American Nursing School Curriculum. TSMU Collaborates With The University Of South Carolina Upstate (USA) To Exchange Academic Programs For Nursing Students.

The Nursing School Offers Two Degrees:

  • Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) – two-year program
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) – four-year program (or two years for those who already have a nursing degree)

After Graduation Students Are Eligible To Take The National Council License Examination (NCLEX) And Commission On Graduates Of Foreign Nursing Schools (CGFNS) For Registered Nurses To Start Working And Living In USA. After Obtaining Associate Degree, Students Can Transfer To USA For Bachelor's Degree.

  • V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University is one of the oldest and most respected University of Ukraine.
  • The University was established in 1805 – 212 years old.
  • The Medical School of the University was closed down in when all the Universities were closed and in their places divided special places of education were introduced.

  • Bogomolets National Medical University (BNMU) is located in Kiev – the capital of Ukraine.

1 September 1900. Old Style Life Of Odessa Held A Significant Event That Left Its Mark In The History Of Medical Education In Ukraine And For Many Years Has Defined Its Future - Opened The Medical Faculty Of Novorossiysk University.Faculty Had Bright Prospects, Because Nmu The Outstanding, World-Renowned Scientists. Before The Opening Of The Faculty Was Completed Major Buildings And Clinics, Which Are Constructed With The Latest Construction And Architecture. Admittedly, This Was The Most Prestigious Faculty And Nayosnaschenishym Medical Schools Of That Time.

However, This Good Start Was Suspended War With Japan, The Revolutionary Events Of 1905-1907, GG, First World War 1914-1918, GG, 1917 October Revolution., And Civil War. Had Elapse Time To After The Destruction Of The Old System Of High School Began On A New Footing Performed Its Slow Recovery. However, The Positive Things That Have Been Laid In Pre-Revolutionary Times, Soon Began To Bear Fruit.1922. Medical Faculty Of Novorossiysk University Was Reformed Into An Independent University - Medical Institute, Which Again Turned Into A Leading University Of The South.

In The 20 Years Of The Last Century Formed And Actively Developing Basic Schools Of Thought, Which Brought The Odessa Medical Institute Worldwide Fame. This - Odessa Therapeutic School Based Students S.P.Botkina - Professors S.V.Levashovym P.O.Valterom And Their Successors Were L.P.Dmytrenko, MD Strazhesko, F.H Yanovsky, M.O .Yasynovskyy. During The Years Of Independent Ukraine Our University Become One Of The Leading Medical Universities IV Level Of Accreditation. He Is A Member Of International And European University Association. Today, The Six Faculties And 58 Departments Of The University About 6,000 Students And Students, 1300 Of Them - The Citizens Of 52 Foreign Countries. In December 2008. New Readers Will Receive Its First Students Of The University Library, Which Will Have Tickets For Students Junior And Senior Courses, Reading Room With 140 Seats, Computer Room, Electronic Library.Computer Park In The University Has 480 Computers, 300 Of Them Are Connected To The Internet.Educational Work Is A Priority At The University. The University Has 12 Academic Buildings With Total Area Of 27,700 Square Meters, 608 Classrooms, Offices And Laboratories. In Six Dormitories Lives About 3 Thousand Students. University Library Book Fund Is 800 Thousand Books.Over The 108 Years Of The Odessa State Medical University ONMedU Trained 74,000 Doctors, 590 Doctors And About 4 Thousand Candidates. In 1946 The First Foreign Student - Citizen Of The Democratic People's Republic Of Korea Kim Jang Soo Has Been Admitted To Odessa Medical Institute (Previous Name Of ONMedU).In General, In The History Of Education Of Foreign People In The Odessa State Medical University Has Three Stages.The First - From 1946 Till 1961. - Training Of Doctors For The People's Democracy.The Second - From 1961 Till 1991. - Training Of Medical Personnel Mainly To Asia, Africa And Latin America, And The Third - Since 1991 Till Now. This Period Of Training On Contract Basis All Interested Foreigners, Including Citizens Of The CIS.

At The First Stage Of Training Was Carried Out On The Basis Of Intergovernmental Agreements, On The Second - On The Basis Of Intergovernmental, Inter-Party Coordination And Communication Between NGOs And Trade Unions, The Third Stage Is Associated With The Collapse Of The USSR And The CIS Inability To Perform The Former Arrangement.At The Initial Stage, Not Numerous Students From European Countries Hardly Changed The Organizational Structure Of The Educational Process. Foreign Students Entered Into Existing Groups And Studied Together With Soviet Students.The Emergence Of Students From Asia, Africa And Latin America Resulted In Significant Changes In The Education Of Foreign Students, So In 1964 Has Been Created The Dean Dedicated To Work With Foreign Students And Later The Department Of Russian Language (1969).

In 1979 The Position Of Vise-Rector For International Relations Has Been Introduced.In 1990 The Faculty Is Preparing Graduates - Foreign Nationals In The Internship, Masters, Postgraduate, Doctoral Studies. This Year Started Training Courses For Foreign Citizens.In 1992 The Preparatory Department For Foreign Citizens, Where Students Are Trained In Russian And Ukrainian Language, Improve Basic Training In Physics, Chemistry And Biology Ha Been Created.

After Passing The Final Exams Students Receive State Certificate And Can Be Credited To The First Course Chosen Specialty Odessa National Medical University Or Other Institution Of Higher Education In Ukraine.Since 1996 The University Opened Training Of Doctors English And Later French Study.Foreign Students Acquire Knowledge And Skills Of The Newest Medical Technologies: Endoscopic, Laparoscopic, Maxillofacial, Plastic Surgery, Transplantation, Tissue Therapy, Implant Dentistry And Others.

Vinnitsia National Medical University

About The University

VNMU began as Vinnitsa Pharmaceutical Institute (1921-1936), and later became Vinnitsa branch of All-Ukrainian Institute of Extra-Mural Medical Education (1930), and reorganized in 1932 as Evening Industrial Medical Institute with two faculties – medical-preventive and pediatric and in 1934 as Vinnitsa Medical Institute (1934).In 1994 the faculty of Dentistry was organized, and Vinnitsa Medical Institute was accredited as a University on Level IV, the highest level of accreditation by Decree of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine 408, dated 15.06.94. The Institute was re-named to Vinnitsa State Pirogov Memorial Medical University. By 2000, the faculty of Pharmacy was organized.

By 2002, taking into account nation-wide and international recognition of results of its activity VSMU was awarded National University status by Decree of the President of Ukraine L.D. Kuchma (June 19, 2002, #560/2002), supporting specialities ”General Medicine“, "Pediatrics", "Dentistry", "Pharmacy", “Clinical Pharmacy”, “Medical Psychology.”

Lviv National Medical University is a Member of International and European Associations of Universities, and also is the member of almost 70 other international organizations, academies & federations. Lviv National Medical University is included into Directory of World Health Organization (WHO) and into Directory of Universities of Central European countries.In terms of University activities LNMU has the leading positions in ratings of higher educational institutions and higher medical educational institutions of Ukraine (Scopus 2010 – the 2nd place among medical universities and academies of Ukraine).

Since 1961 LNMU has trained over 2.5 thousand foreign students as doctors and pharmacists and is working successfully as doctors and pharmacists in many countries of the world.
